Pamphlets Used to Earn this Badge
Requirements September 1958 until June 1972
*1. Present evidence that you have cared properly for one or more pets for a period of at least four months, after approval of the project by your counselor.
2. Present an article of at least two hundreds words, explaining your responsibility in the care, feeding, housing, etc., of your pets over a two-month period; tell some interesting facts about them and why you have this particular kind of pet. Include a statement on local laws and ordinances, if any, relating to the pets you keep.
3. Show that you have completed reading a book or pamphlet, approved by your counselor, covering your kind of pet.
4. Do any one of the following:
(a) Exhibit your pets in some pet show, amateur or professional. (b) Start a friend raising pets similar to yours; advise him, and help him get a good start. (c) Breed your pets as a project and show their offspring to the counselor. (d) Train a pet in three or more tricks or special abilities.
* If you have earned merit badges for Dog Care, Nature, Rabbit Raising, Reptile Study, Zoology, Hog and Pork Production, Pigeon Raising, or Poultry Keeping, work done on any of these will not qualify you for the above requirements.
