A scout must have a general knowledge of the anatomy of domestic and farm animals, and be able to describe treatment and symptoms of the following:
Wounds, fractures and sprains, exhaustion, choking, lameness. He must understand horse shoeing and shoes, and must be able to give a drench for colic.
Requirements August 1911 until October 1914
1. Have a general knowledge of domestic and farm animals.
2. Be able to treat a horse for colic.
3. Describe symptoms and give treatment for the following: wounds, fractures and sprains, exhaustion, choking, lameness.
4. Understand horseshoeing.
