Requirements October 1939 until June 1952

1. Have in attendance at school, (grammar, high, private or night school), for a period of at least one year since becoming a First Class Scout.

2. Present evidence from teacher or principal that during this period, (a) his attendance has been satisfactory, and (b) he has ranked in the upper third of his school in scholarship.

3. Present evidence that he has taken a satisfactory part in the life of his school.

4. Give evidence of at least five instances where his school training has been of value to him in Scouting and other activities or interests outside of school.

5. Give evidence that he has made use of educational resources other than those of his school, outlining at least five instances where he has used such resources for self-education.

 

Requirements June 1952 until September 1958

1. Present evidence from teacher or principal of your school that during the past year (a) your attendance has been satisfactory and (b) you have ranked in the upper third of your class in scholarship.

2. Present evidence that you have taken a satisfactory part in the life of your school.

3. Give evidence of at least five instances where your school training has been of value to you in Scouting and other activities or interests outside of school.

4. Give evidence that you made use of educational resources other than those of your school, outlining at last five instances where you have used such resources for self-education.

 

Requirements September 1958 until January 1969

1. Present evidence from the principal* of your school that during the past year (a) your attitude toward school, based on behavior, leadership, and service, has been better than average and (b) that you have been on your class honor roll or have maintained an average grade of 82 or above for at least one term or semester.

2. Show that you have taken an active part in at least two extracurricular activities, such as athletics, music, school publication work, dramatics, student council. Explain your part in these activities.

3. Write and submit to your counselor for approval an essay (at least four hundred words) on "How School Training Will Be of Value to Me in My Future."

4. Submit a list of the educational resources other than your own school in your community (public library, museums, historical shrines, churches, extension service office, etc.). Visit two of these places and report to your counselor on how you used their facilities for self-education.
