Requirements 1969 until June 1972

1. Do ONE of the following two projects:

(a) Present evidence that you have been on your class honor roll or have maintained an average grade of 82 or above (or B or above) for at least one term or semester.

(b) Present evidence that over at least one term or semester you have improved your school grades to a level agreed upon in advance by your teachers, your Scoutmaster, and yourself.

2. Do the following:

(a) Submit a list of educational places other than schools in your area (public library, museums, historical shrines, churches, extension service office, etc.). Visit one and write a report on how you used the place for self-education.

(b) Interview at least two persons other than teachers or school administrators. Find out how and where they were educated and how this helped prepare them for the life they now live. Find out how each continues to educate himself about his work and about his responsibilities as a citizen. Write a report of your findings and give it to your counselor.

3. Present evidence from the principal of your school* that during the past year your behavior, leadership, and service have been better than average.

4. Show that you have taken an active part in one or more extracurricular activities, such as athletics, music, school publication, dramatics, student council, school interest clubs.

5. Write and submit to your counselor for approval an essay of at least 400 words on "How School Training Will Be of Value to Me in the Future."
