Requirements June 1972 – February 1979

1. Make a drawing that shows how water moves in a cycle. Tell what water pollution is. Tell how it affects you.

2. Make a drawing that shows how oxygen moves in a cycle. Tell what air pollution is. Tell how it affects this cycle.

3. Explain how air, water, soil, minerals, plants, ans animals work together to make a glass of milk.

4. Take a walk around your neighborhood for 2 hours. Make a list of things you see that please you. Make another list of those you feel could be improved. Plan and carry out a project, approved by your patrol leader before you start. This project will help improve your neighborhood.

5. In addition to requirement 4 do one of the following:

a. Ragweed control
b. Litter prevention
c. Erosion control
d. Solid waste recycling

 

Requirements February 1979 – February 1989

1. Show by what you do that you follow the Outdoor Code when you are in the outdoors.

2. a. Explain the main causes and effects of water pollution. Tell how we can have clean water.

b. Explain the main causes and effects of air pollution. Tell how we can have clean air.

3. a. Make a list of present major sources of energy and the major alternate sources.

b. Make a list of 10 ways in which you and your family can save energy.

4. a. Take a walk around where you live for 2 hours and make two lists related to conservation

b. Plan and carry out your own conservation project. Get it approved by your patrol leader before you start.

5. Take part in one of these projects with your patrol or another Scout:

a. Clean up a roadside, picnic ground, vacant lot, stream, lake shore, or ocean beach.
b. Work on erosion control of stream bank, gully, or train.
c. Plant trees, do forest improvement or insect control.
d. Improve backyard or other wildlife habitat.
e. Help with energy conservation.
