If you troop is large you may want to have one or more assistant senior patrol leaders. They must be at least First Class and are nominated by the senior patrol leader in consultation with the Scoutmaster and approved by the patrol leaders' council. The main function of the assistant senior patrol leader is to relieve a senior patrol leader of some of the details of his job.
A Good Assistant Senior Patrol Leader
- Carries out instructions and assignments given to him by the senior patrol leader with the approval of the Scoutmaster.
- Carries out the functions of the senior patrol leader in his absence.
- Works with one or more patrol leaders as assigned by the senior patrol leader with the approval of the Scoutmaster.
- Attends meetings of the patrol leaders' council. Sets a good example in wearing his uniform.
